Description:
In the hot rodding world, the machines made of steel are still king. This is a real Henry Ford steel 1934 Ford model 40 5-window coupe, making it somewhat of a holy grail. Finished as a kind of homage to the rods of the '50s with its wide whites, it's a beautifully built machine with a top-notch pedigree. First of all, finding a steel '34 Ford coupe is, well, a coup; they simply don't exist in the wild anymore. There are reproduction 3-window coupes available, but if you want more windows, you're going to need to find an original. Beautifully finished in retina-searing red, this one is simply stunning in the bright sunlight. It hasn't been chopped or shaved, meaning that all the cool original details remain, giving it a very period feel-after all, the guys in the '50s weren't shaving door handles, they were building faster motors! From the beautifully shaped and finished V-shaped grille and large headlights, to the delicate scrolled door handles and original taillights on fender-mounted stalks, this car could probably pass for original if it were painted, say, Henry Ford black. However, no original 1934 Ford ever had paint this nice, gaps this tight, and a stance this awesome. Black leather with a custom-fabricated bench seat is the right choice in a retro-rod like this. Pleated seats and door panels are suitably vintage, and the deep contours on the seat add leg and headroom to a car that desperately needed it. The doors are still hinged from the back suicide-style, allowing easy ingress to the supple leather throne inside. The gauges are simply set into the dash in a simple row, offering a clear view of everything going on under the hood. That extremely cool steering wheel looks like a cut-down piece from a '50s production car, complete with horn ring, and it's mounted on a tilt column. Hidden A/C controls and an AM/FM/CD stereo in an overhead console keep the interior sanitary, and you'll love the beveled mirror that looks straight out of 1934. Even the crank-open windshield is still functional, and the rumble seat has been replaced by a spacious and usable trunk that's upholstered to match. Chevy power is a welcome sight under the hood, coming in the form of a 350 topped by an Edelbrock carb and a bunch of polished aluminum bits. Like the body, everything that isn't polished has been drenched in more of that bright red paint, including the block, heads, and intake, and even the plug wires and distributor cap are red. Underneath, there's a TH350 3-speed automatic feeding a Ford 9-inch, and again, everything has been painted to match, from the frame to the springs holding up the corners. Disc brakes hide behind those painted steel wheels, which wear staggered wide whitewall radials for a wicked rake. Go price other steel '34 Ford coupes, then give us a call. You'll see that this one is not only beautiful, but somewhat of a bargain. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information,
