Description:
This 1940 Ford tudor sedan is the perfect example of how to do it right. No outrageous colors, no radical body modifications, no unusable chrome engine, just a classic color combination on a body style that honestly can't be improved. The black over red combination will never go out of fashion, the smooth-running small block is still the best choice for a rod, and it's fully sorted, so you can drive it home. Like I said, a perfect rod. The flip side to that classic black paint job is that you'd better get it right. As a southern car for most of its life, this Ford didn't need significant surgery to get it into the prime condition you see now, and the guys who did the bodywork knew their stuff. Look at the reflections in the large door panel and you'll find that they're distortion-free and crystal clear. None of the gorgeous original styling has been altered, from the V-shaped grille up front flanked by teardrop headlight housings, to the world's coolest taillights. The chrome is excellent, the stainless has been polished, and the simplicity of the design is just as appealing today as it was 70 years ago. There's a reason why 1940 Fords are popular with hot rodders and restorers alike. And if you're using black, there's no better accompaniment than bright red, especially when it's as well-executed as the interior of this Ford. The split front bench and rear seat have been generously upholstered in an original-appearing style using narrow pleats and wide cushions, with side and door panels to match. The black carpet prevents it from being red overload, and works well with the black dashboard. Classic Instruments provided the gauges, which look vintage but include all the vitals, and are housed in a polished aluminum instrument panel. Upgrades include power windows, a tilt column, Vintage Air heat and A/C, and a leather-wrapped LaCarrera steering wheel that looks suitably retro. The fastback body style also offers a generous trunk complete with spare tire. The pointed hood hides a Chevy 350 that has been neatly crammed between the Ford's fat fenders. Finished in contrasting bright red and polished aluminum, it features an Edelbrock intake and carburetor, a set of long-tube headers, and a thick Walker radiator up front keeping things cool. The accessories have been mounted tight to the block and service access is actually quite good, and it doesn't show much use at all. Underneath, the entire chassis has been painted red as well, including the Ford 9-inch out back. The front suspension uses upper and lower control arms with coilovers, as well as a rack-and-pinion steering system. A dual master cylinder with front disc brakes give this Ford modern stopping power, and the chrome steel wheels with original hubcaps and appropriately-sized blackwall radials are the perfect touch. If you want a great-running rod that'll never go out of style (and will therefore keep its value better than most), this Ford is for you. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
