Just out of a private collection and offered for sale is this Harry Bentley Bradley inspired custom built 1947 Ford Convertible built by Dave Crook. The modifications and fabrications are numerous. This car has been featured in Rodders Journal twice, once in its bare steel form and once in the finished form. Some of the more notable modifications to the body include permanently attaching all four fenders and front and rear valance to the body, and then filling and molding the seams in lead. All part lines are rounded at the corners and exacting gaps. The deck lid, fender skirts, and glass are flush mounted, providing a modern and clean look to the whole car body. All body work was done in lead and all chrome trim was hand formed from brass stock. The windshield frame was cut in eleven places to lower it and provide clean sweeping lines from the cowl into the roof. All of the chrome trim is recessed so it is flush with the body. The bumpers were modified to fit tight to the valances front and rear. The front fender skirts were engineered to open as the wheels turn either right or left. A lift off top was hand made to fit the body. The interior was completely handcrafted. A 1961 Chrysler dash cluster was used for the instrumentation centered in the dash area. The frame was custom fabricated utilizing front and rear frame clips from a 1968 Chevelle. The engine is a 500CI Cadillac V-8 and has a 1953 Cadillac air cleaner, 1951 Cadillac valve covers, and a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. All engine accessory brackets were custom machined to allow everything to remain tucked in the engine compartment. The wheel covers are machined out of aluminum to resemble 1953 Cadillac hubcaps. This car has hardly ever been shown and driven even less so it is as fresh and pristine as the day it was finished. You can purchase this car for far less than it cost to build.
