Description: 1959Buick Le Sabre Sedan This is an outstanding example of Buick's very first LeSabre--the 1959 model featured the flying fins called 'delta wings'. This particular classic chrome cruiser combines the best of both worlds: excellent restoration and high-quality original details. Eye-catching black and baby blue two-color exterior finish, and gray and white interior finish. Best of all--great peformance and oustanding reliability in the five years I've owned it. Background : *Four door sedan, bought new on July 1, 1959 by university professor with many accessories, including: power steering, deluxe wheel covers, deluxe steering wheel, twin turbine transmission, Safety group, power brakes, Sonomatic radio (it works great!), air conditioning, and undercoating, etc. I have original bill of sale. I am the second driver/owner and I've had the car for the past 5 years. I've used it for seasonal local driving and shows--but it can easily be a daily driver. Interior Excellent Original Details : *Beautiful original interior--it looks so good you might think it was restored! Very nice white headliner, dashboard, and the upgraded Barbary cloth/Cordaveen vinyl seats and door panels are all outstanding. The instrument panel is a pleasure--lots of gadgets and instruments. The speedometer design was way ahead of it's time--it's an original neon-orange 'thermometer' horizontal needle. This model also features some advance safety design: there's a control where you set a speed and then if you reach that while driving, it will sound a warning buzzer. I did add seat belts to the rear (for child car seats). Odometer shows 25,000 miles, but I'd say true mileage uknown. Trunk compartment is very clean and original. Exterior : *2003 quality repaint. Professional auto paint and detail restoration shop took off all chrome and metal, sanded and refinished in high gloss black and Wedgewood blue finish. Original chrome in very good to excellent overall condition. Newer Coker wide whitewall radial tires. Performance : *The best thing about the car--in my opinion--is its reliability and performance. I've honestly never had a problem with this car--it's a workhorse. This car always starts right up--hot or cold. The364 CID V8 250HP twin turbine transmission means it's got great power and it really moves. There's a good reason why the LeSabre was picked as the Indy 500 Pace Car during its inaugural year! It's features the 'key-less' ignition. You have the option of using the key or no key--just turn the ignition to 'on' and press the gas pedal to start the car. Very cool! And always a conversation starter at cruise shows. Full Disclosure : *Because you may not be able to see the car in person, let me tell you about a few minor blemishes and details. I've bought a vintage car online before and was disappointed when the car arrived and there were some details that were not disclosed or easily visible from the online photos. So here goes... 1. Odometer shows 25,000 miles--but I'd say 'true mileage unknown'. It was registered and on the road from 1959 through 1977. While it is in exceptional original condition and drives great, my sense is that it's not 25,000 actual original miles but it definitely doesn't seem like 126,000 either. 2. Inside panel behind back seat under the rear glass has some slight fading/wear, probably from the sun over time. It's only in one corner. It's the original carboard. Not bad at all--just not perfect 3. Driver's side has one paint nick in black area--could be easily filled. 4. Gear selector indicator on steering wheel is off one position--so when you put the car into Drive, the selector shows Neutral etc. 5. Engine compartment could use a cleaning 6. Wheel rims were not repainted/restored. They're in decent original condition--just not restored to high quality gloss like the rest of the car. 7. Overall chrome is exceptional original. On front bumper under the right canted headlights there's a small area of some wear. 8. Fuel gauge works intermittenly. Bonus Items : *Included with the car are some great ephemera: Original1959 Buick Service Manual, original full-color '59 Buick dealer catalog, original bill of sale on this model, plus original registration and service receipts from the original owner. He kept detailed records--car has been well cared for since the get-go. Plus very cool '1959Buick Factbook' published by GM with a wealth of technical facts and figures. I hate to sell 'Della', but I've lost my storage space and with two small kids now I don't have the time to enjoy her. If you're interested, feel free to contact me.
