1959 Cadillac Sedan Deville 62 Series Everything original just like brand new 62 series. Original 390 cubic inch V8 factory rated is 325 HP, 45780 orginal miles, Car is equiped w/ Remmington Cushion Air 78-15 wide white wall tires. This vehicle is a very clean and solid example of the popular full sized sedan Deville luxury sedan was produced by the Cadillac motor division of General motors. This is a Model 62 Deville with body by Fleetwood . This particular car was purchased by the owner several years ago and hace been well cared for over the years. The onwer reports that the vehicle was originally from the St.Louis, MS area prior to his purchase. The outer body of the vehicle is made up of the large steel panels which are coated in a white acrylic enamel finish. The paint has a clean shine and is free from marks or problems. This is a color change from the original Wood Rose Metallic finish applied at the factory. The exterior chrome and stainless trimpieces are all in place with only light pitting of their surfaces to be seen. The car is complete and fully functional at this time. This car is used for summer pleasure driving and local old car events. The vehicle is stored away when not in use and during the inclement winter months. The vehicle has been oil-coated in the past. This should be continued to ensure its solidity in the years to come. The front left fender panel is a large steel panel which is solid and nicely finished in the body color. The paint has a clean shine and is free from marks or chips. The front of the panel has the huge chromed steel bumper unit wrapped around its lower portion. There is also a chromed grillpiece above this bumper. The upper front of the panel has the chromed steel headlight bezel in place. The top of the fender has a chromed ornament and moulding running across its centre. The front wheel opening is solid with the factory recessed stainless wheelarch moulding trimming its outer edges. The steel inner fender panel is solid with black enamel sealer applied. The rear of the fender has a narrow factory stainless steel body side moulding in place. This runs across the beltline of the panels with no marks in its surfaces. The lower rocker portion of the fender is solid and coated in the white body color. The left front doorpanel is another factory steel unit which has been property coated in the white body color. The paint has the same clean appearance and is free from marks or problems. The inner doorjambs and the door opening itself have also been detailed in the body finish with full rubber seals noted. The door was easily opened and closed. The upper portion of the door has a vent and roll-down side window in place. These are both framed with chromed steel mouldings. The base of the window panels has a factory stainless and rubber moulding fitted. The rear view mirror is a chromed steel unit which has been solidly mounted to its base. The doorhandle is also chromed steel with lock located beneath it. The stainless body side moulding continues across the centre of the door with no marks noted. The lower door edge and the rocker beneath it are both solid with the white finish applied to their surfaces. The left rear doorpanel is another factory steel panel which has been properly refinished in the white body color. The paint is clean with no marks or chips to be seen. The inner doorjambs and the door opening itself have also been detailed in the body finish with full rubber seals noted. The door was easily opened with some hinge stiffness noted. The upper portion of the door has a single side window in place. This unit is framed with chromed steel and another stainless moulding runs across its bottom. The doorhandle is a matching chromed steel unit which is clean and functional. The stailess body side moulding continues across the centre of the door. The lower rocker panel beneath the door is solid with the body finish applied. The left rear quarter panel is a large factory steel unit which is capped with the famous 'wing' which was a trademark of Cadillac in the forties, fifties and early sixties. The panel is solid and nicely finished in the white color. The top of the rear quarter wing has factory stainless accent mouldings in place. The upper rear of the window has a chromed steel tailights in place. The stainless body side moulding continues in a widening pattern to the rear of the car. The upper front of the panel has a small pillar window in place. This unit is trimmed with chromed and stainless mouldings. The rear wheel opening is trimmed with a steel fenderskirt which has been properly mounted and coated in the body finish. The steel inner fender panel is also solid with black enamel sealer and oil applied. The rear is also capped with the large chromed steel rear bumper unit which is solidly mounted to its steel brackets. The rear of the car is again clean and solid with all of the factory ornate chromed steel trimpieces in place. The rear bumper is a heavy chromed steel unit which is solidly mounted to its steel brackets. The bumper is a three -piece unit which has round endcaps and a centre horizontal piece in place. These are all showing only light oxidization and pitting of their surfaces. The centre of the bumper unit has the rear licence plate recessed into it. The dual exhaust pipes jut out from beneath the outer edges of the bumper. The red-lensed tailights are built into the upper wings of the quarter panels. These units are clean with chromed bezels trimming them. The upper rear panel, above the bumper, is body coloured with an ornate chromed steel trimplate across its front. The top and bottom of the trimpiece are trimmed with chromed steel mouldings. The remainder of the rear portion is made up of the steel trunklid which is trimmed with a thick chromed steel moulding along its rear edge. There is also a V - emblem and Cadillac crest in place. The lid is body coloured and was easily openes and closed. The outer edges of the trunk opening are detailed in the body finish with full rubber seals noted. The inner trunk compartment is solid with all of the steel panels being coated in black enamel sealer. The owner has removed all of the original formed side board trimpannels. These have been replaced with black carpeting over the floor and sidepanels. The floor has a piece of loop pile carpeting in place. The full sized spare tire and jack are properly stored away with matching black plie carpeted cover noted. There were no signs of moisture or leaks noted inside trunk. The right side of the car is again clean and solid with all of the steel panels being coated in the white body colour. The paint has the same clean shine and is free from marks or problems. The front and rear wheel openings are also solid with a matching steel fenderskirt on the rear. The two steel inner fender panels are both solid with black enamel sealer applied. The lower rocker portion of the right side is solid with the white finish applied to its exterior. The right side doorpanels are both solidly mounted to their hinges. The stainless body side moulding continues down the centre of the panels with no mark in their surfaces. The upper rear of the front fender panel has the power radio aerial in place. This unit is clean and functional at this time. The other trimpieces and fixtures duplicate those noted on the left side of the car. The front of the vehicle is again clean and original in its condition. The large chromed steel bumper unit is again properly mounted to its steel brackets. This unit is also a multi-piece bumper which has the front licence plate recessed into its centre. The outer 'pods' of the bumper are clean with the turn signal lamps built inti their centres. The four round headlights cap the top s of the fender panels with chromed bezels around their edges. The grill opening above the bumper has a thick chromed moulding across its centre. The grill itself is made up of the same chrome patterned steel used on the rear trimpanel. The grill is clean and showing no marks or problems. The front edge of the hood and fender panels are trimmed with ornate chromed steel fixtures. The hood is the factory steel unit which has been properly coated in the white body colour. The front of the hood has another V emblem and Cadillac crest in place. The hood was easily opened and closed with no play in its two hinges. The upper cowl panel at the rear of the hood is a chrome vented panel which has the chromed wipers at its top. The slots in the centre of the cowl are the inlets for the interior ventilation system. The front windshield is a tinted safety plate unit which is properly mounted in its curved opening. The outer edges of the opening are trimmed with stainless and rubber mouldings. The side and rear window panels are also tinted safety plate units which are free from marks or scratches. The roof of the the vehicle is the four door hardtop roofline. This is coated in the white body colour with full stainless moulding around its outer edges. There are also full stainless drip rails over the tops of the side door/window openings. The car is equipped with a set of four Remington cushion-aire polyester-belted tires. These units are all L78 -15' s with wide whitewalls showing. The tires are mounted on a set of four 15' stamped steel wheels which are coated in black enamel. The original Cadillac full wheeldiscs are in place on these four wheels. The tires and covers are all in excellent condition with no marks or treadwear problems to be seen. The engine compartment of the vehicle is again clean and original in its condition. The steel inner fender and firewall panels are all solid with black enamel applied to their surfaces. The motor is the original Cadillac 390 cubic inch V8 which was factory rated at 325 horsepower. The motor has been left totally stock with regular maintenance over the years. The motor is made up of a cast iron block and cylinder heads which are coated in dark blue high heat enamel. The top of the motor has a cast iron four barel intake manifold and carburetor in place. These are topped with a large gold coated air cleaner. The exhaust system is comprised of a pair of cast iron manifolds which war connected to the dual pipes and muflers. The ignition is the original single point distributor and coil with replacement wires noted. The stock cooling and charging system pieces are all in place. The power steering brake and air conditioning components are also located inside the compartment. The motor is connected to its original Turbohydramatic transmission. This is a three speed automatic which is in clean and smooth working order. The motor was easily started and runs smoothly upon firing. The combination of V 8 power and automatic transmission reliability makes the vehicle both responsive and pleasant to drive. There were no problems noted or heard during my inspection of the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle is again clean and original in its appearance. The front and rear units are covered with a rose coloured vinyl and black patterned cloth combination. The seats are both clean with no marks and problems in either. The doorpanels are also rose-coloured vinyl units bolt-on armrests in their centres. Tho original chromed cranks and handles are also in place on these four doors. The dash is a painted steel unit which has been covered by the owner with brown pile material. The front of the dash has the instruments and controls in place. These include a 120 mph speedometer , fuel and temperature guages. The original clock is also in place and working. The centre of the dash also has the factory heater/vent controls and AM push button radio in place. These are clean and functional. The steering wheel is a large rose coloured unit solidly mounted to its column. The shifter level is also in place on the right side of this column. The floors of the compartment are covered in the rose loop pile carpeting with full loop plie mats in the footwells. The underside of the roof is covered with a mohair hieadliner. The compartment is also equipped with the deluxe seatbelt and courtesy light packages from the factory. There were no problems noted inside the compartment and none should be expected with continued care and treating of materials. The underside of the vehicle is solid and clean. The full heavy steel frame and all of the floorpanels are coated in black enamel sealer. This has been agrumented with oiling over the years. There were no signs of rust or accident repair work noted beneath the car. The full dual exhaust system is solidly mounted to its hangers with a healthy rumble at the idle . The brakes are original four wheel drums. These are power assisted as was the steering. The stook suspension and heavy duty rear carrier units are in place and working smoothly at this time. I would again recommend that the owner continue oiling the underside of the vehicle to ensure its solidity in the years to come. Vehicle located in London, Ontario. Ad
