1951 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon
The Ford Custom Deluxe Country Squire Station Wagon has become known simply as WOODY to legions of people who love these rolling kitchen cabinets as conveyances for surfboards, fishing poles, or mom and the soccer team. There is plenty of room in these shoebox Ford woodies for six kanaka nui, and ample rear space for whattayagot. For nearly 6 decades, these wagons have been serving every purpose in style and they own the heart of anyone who has ever owned one of them. You see this car ___ you get the chicken skin. Its DA KINE ___ hey bruddah, this gnarlacious ride is choke cool.
This Hawaiian surf wagon has been well cared for and still has all the original stuff it came with ___ the 239 CID flathead V8 engine purrs like a fat cat in rubbah slippahs, putting out a dependable, economical 100 horsepower. The Ford O Matic automatic transmission shifts smooth and sweet and the car handles nice. The paint was refreshed a few years ago on this Greenbriar Green woody wagon. This ride looks like it absolutely belongs down at the breaks with Greg Noll big gun on top.
This wagon was built at the Long Beach, California assembly plant and it was in Southern California until the late ___80s when its new owner took it for a boat ride to Oahu. It has been there since, well maintained, and kept covered in a closed garage when not in use. It got new front floor pans at one time and the wood in the doors deteriorated and has been replaced, but this Ford is in top condition today. The body has never been hit and there are no dents or dings in the car ___ no major flaws of any kind. You will find some tiny paint chips and normal wear typical of a driven car, but this Ford will not embarrass anyone. The glass and chrome are good. The tires, brakes, and suspension are good. The seats have been reupholstered in heavy duty two tone tan and brown school bus vinyl, very close to original material - free of stains, rips and tears. The woody does not have carpeting. A carpet remnant is in the car to protect the original rubber floor mats, but the rubber mats are deteriorating and ought to be replaced. The gauges work, but after arriving in Honolulu the odometer was restored and indicates about 5300 miles at this time. The grocery getter has accumulated only an average 1500 miles a year since new ___ or a close estimate of about 88K miles.
