There's only one thing cooler than a mid-50s Ford F100 pickup, and that's a panel delivery. This is a mild custom with a few period-appropriate speed parts on the flathead, and it's refreshing to see that it has not been chopped, lowered, and stuffed full of Chevy crate motor. Finished in traditional bright red, there's no denying the F100 DNA running through its veins. The bodywork is very well done; getting those rear panels straight can't be an easy task, and the paint has a soft gloss that looks like this one just pulled up in front of the corner drug store, circa 1956. The restorer chose not to put his own logo on the side, leaving that for the next lucky owner. Twin doors at the rear are unique to this model and seal up well, while the front half is almost identical to the pickup truck. A polished grille up front, with a simple single bar bumper give the F100 its timeless good looks, and a matching bumper out back is the perfect complement to the small chrome taillight housings. There's no question someone spent a big pile of money on this truck, but the real trick was getting it to look so right. The cavernous interior was just the ticket for the guy who had A LOT of stuff to carry. The black vinyl front seat area is nicely restored, with separate buckets for driver and passenger, designed to allow easy access to the storage bay. A black rubber floor mat was the only choice, but it's smart because it's durable and easy to clean. The instrument panel is full of useful gauges that are all restored and functional, and the all-steel dashboard has been restored to the same standards as the bodywork. And again, the restorer chose to keep it original, skipping the radio and sticking with nothing more than an original Ford accessory heater/defroster unit under the dash. The only upgrade might be the beautiful oak bed in back, because they were surely never this nice when they were new. A warmed-over 239 cubic inch flathead V8 lives under the hood, wearing period speed equipment that makes this the ideal hauler for a traditional hot rod shop. Offenhauser heads, along with a 4-barrel intake sporting a 390 Holley give the flatty a little extra kick, ably assisted by the 3-speed manual transmission and 3.91 gears out back. Finished in turquoise engine enamel, the engine is nicely detailed, and the 12-volt generator up top is a very clever touch. A set of headers dump into a dual exhaust system that sounds awesome, and the chassis is as clean and detailed as the rest of the truck. Painted steel wheels wearing 6.50-16 bias-ply blackwalls are the perfect finishing touch. It's incredibly rare to find one of these in near-stock condition, and even more rare to find one restored to this level. An impressive truck that will draw a ton of attention. Call today!
