Description: 1953 Ford 1 Ton Wrecker 50th aniversery edition Name--Lil' Hooker This is a cool little wrecker .It is a 1953 model which is the 50th aniversery model. It states this fact right on the horn button. I do not know it's history from day one, but I have known the truck for the last 35 years. It belonged to Hansen's Gulf West Broad St. Mineola, Texas Now that is where it stayed for several years I came to this area in 1971 and it may have been there many years before that. Maybe since new. Then it was sold to a Bob Glidewell in Quitman Texas home of Sissy Spacek. Quitman is 10 miles from Mineola. Bob kept this truck for years and finally sold it to me in 2005.I think I'm 3rd owner but not positive. Bob installed a Chevy smallblock 400 engine and bought an adapter out of Calif. so that it bolted right up to the original Ford 4 speed . So running gear is original except the small block Chevy transplant.So this truck has not ever left the county . Okay , here is what I have done with it. I could not wait to get it home and play with it , since it is a working wrecker that we can use. It was even inspected up until 2 months ago and registered.I had it painted recently I had the inside of cab completly redone. I bought all new glass except winshield. and new rubber weather strip. It has all new clearance lights , cab and bed also new turn signal lights on front fender . All lights work even in the dash and also the amber beacon light on top works properly. It has a 12,000 lb winch that works from PTO ( not electric) . This winch truck will pull your house away. The engine compartment is completly detailed . It has new dual exhaust system front to back. It has a new battery and is completly tuned up and ready to go. Signs on doors are decals and can be removed so tha you can put your own business sign on it.This truck starts good and runs smooth and I have not found any leaks under it. Okay now for the negitves This truck is 55 years old and is not a truck you will see on Barrett Jackson auctions. Niether will it cost you as much as a Museum quality ,trailer queen. It is a truck we use here on my yard and arround this area. It is road worthy But don't expect to fly in here and drive it home , unless you are willing to drive about 55 MPH on your way home .It was never designed to be a highway truck and trucks did not run as fast 50 years ago. The body is far from perfect .It has it's share of small dents and bondo. I have tried to describe this truck honestly . If you want a new one or a perfect one please don't bid on this truck . This truck has been an extremely fun truck to mess with and served us well. it is such an eye catcher and stops more traffic than a dead man hanging out there on a pole.I believe That it will increase your business if you just park it out in front of your business with your business name and phone # on it.
