Ford took the highly successful Fairlane 500 and chopped the roof off, just in back of the front seats, deleted the back seats and designed a truck bed and beefed up the suspension to safely hold a half-ton of payload. This beauty is powered by a numbers matching 292cid V-8 engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission on the column. Power to the rear wheels is through a tough 2.69: 1 gear set. Custom Rancheros came with luxurious interiors like this one. This example comes in Colonial White vinyl over a woven houndstooth patterned fabric interior. Also - padded dash, clock, chrome plated horn ring, swivel rearview mirror, carpeting and on the outside fashion-ray full wheel covers, WSW 7.50-14 tires, more stainless steel trim and side inserts, back up lights and more. This rare Ranchero was born the 1st week of May in 1958 and came off the Dearborn assembly line where the Fairlanes were born. Only minor changes were made on the 1958's. Some being the fashionable quad headlamps, the all familiar Thunderbird grille design, and more sweeping lines leading from the headlamps all the way down the side of the car/truck. This is all stock and has been well taken care of. Note how clean the door panels and kick plates are. The deep-pile carpeting is still rich looking. And the engine compartment is clean and dry. And no dents or abrasions in the truck bed. The stainless steel trim and chrome all have a nice patina. The owner has gone over this vehicle and installed fresh tires, hoses and belts.
