| Description: Lincoln fans watching the recent funeral of despot Kim Jong-Il in North Korea were probably taken aback by the presence of several massive 1972 Lincolns just like this one leading the parade. However, if you're the kind of guy who can have anything he wants, a full-sized Lincoln Continental like this is probably a great choice. Reliable, powerful, and handsome, these Lincolns are treasured by their owners and are some of the best choices for affordable '70s luxury. Apparently this car has a colorful past, having been owned for 38 years by a secret service agent and maintained to the standards you might expect from such an individual. Finished in elegant black with a black vinyl top, this car looks like it has just 11,000 miles on the clock, not 111,000. From the straight bodywork that has never been rusty or damaged, to the bright chrome that still shines the way it did in the showroom, this is a big, impressive machine. And compared to the flamboyant Eldorado, the Continental is clean and uncluttered, with trademark hidden headlamps up front and classic horizontal taillights out back. It's quite likely that the paint is original, and given that fact, it's in extraordinarily good condition with great gloss and no issues. The black vinyl roof is equally nice, with no delamination, bubbles underneath, or split seams. While a lot of luxury cars of the era received some rather questionable fabric selections, the fellow who filled out the order form knew that black leather would never go out of fashion. There's room for six, and every luxury and convenience feature designers could dream up was standard equipment. The powerful A/C system has been recently upgraded to R134a refrigerant and things like the power windows, locks, and AM/FM stereo radio all work as they should. In fact, everything works, right down to the clock and the smallest light bulbs in the glove box. The carpets and door panels are beautifully preserved as well, which should be no surprised given the nature of the guy who owned it for decades. Even the trunk still carries the original spare and jack assembly, still wrapped in its original fabric cover. Lincolns carried Ford's indestructible 460 cubic inch V8, the biggest ever offered by the company. Smooth, powerful, and easy to service, it's the ideal powerplant for a big luxury cruiser like this. This one has been recently rebuilt and idles so smoothly you're tempted to hit the starter again after it's already running. The engine bay is completely original and it appears that the rebuilder took great pains to preserve the originality, although maintenance items like hoses, belts, plugs, and wires are all fresh. The C6 automatic has also been freshly rebuilt, and the driveshaft features new U-joints for a glass-smooth ride. Tasteful Michelin whitewall radials wear full hubcaps and round out a very impressive machine. There's nothing like piloting a '70s American luxury car, and this one will be a hit in HPOF competition. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information,
