The AustinA125 Sheerline was a luxury car produced by Austin Motor Company from 1947 to 1954. The Austin ' A125 ' and ' A135 ' Saloons were cars of advanced design and high performance evolved for an exclusive market. In every respect they were built to the highest of standards of quality to provide thousands of miles of dependable and luxurious motoring.
Designed by Austin before world war two but the production began afterwards because of the war industry. It was a very luxurious car just like the Rolls Royce and Bently but it cost a lot less. There were about 8000 built and it's becoming quite rare. There was a Saloon version and a Limousine version and later on there came more versions like a hearse and a ambulance. After the Sheerline they began producing the A135 Princess, which was mechanically almost exactly the same to the Sheerline.
This car is a right hand side drive utilizing a 243.6 cu/inch 6 cylinder gasoline engine with an overhead valve train. The transmission is a Rolls Royce 4 speed standard shift on the tree. The electrical system is positive ground. This model has an adjustable telescopic steering wheel column. The ' Power Red Jackall ' hydraulic jacking system employs an electric motor to drive a hydraulic pump which powers four built in hydraulic jacks which raise all four wheels off of the ground simultaneously. The Lockheed hydraulic braking system employs two leading shoe brakes at the front, with a bisector unit on the rear brake shoes enabling them to be operated hydraulically or mechanically. The weight of the car is approximately2142 pounds. This car was originally painted black and has since been painted white. It is my understanding that the original interior was leather but has since been restored in navy blue fabric. There is a privacy window located behind the drivers seat. In my possession I have:
-Spare engine gasket set -Original owners maintenance, data and specification hand written log from new. -AustinA125 and A135 service manuals
I have recently replaced the entire exhaust pipe system and muffler, rebuilt the brake system, and replaced the carburetor and fuel delivery system. I have also just replace the biased tread tires with new radial tires.
It is possible to hand crank start the car however I am missing the hand crank.
Non smoker, telescoping wheel, wood trim, right hand drive, very low miles. This rare vehicle is in great shape.
