FOR SALE--ONE of ONEA True piece of Automotive History ! !Pictures and contact at bottom of page Concept Twin Turbo ONE of ONE Father of the Buick Grand National (The Gail Banks bio.)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Twin Turbocharged Buick OriginalBuick V-6 That will Turn Your HeadINFORMATION I JUST RIECEIVEDAn excerpt from the Bio. of GAIL BANKSThen Buick came calling. They were developing a turbo V6 for an Indy pace car in ???78, and having big problems. ???It was based on the old 1950s Buick V6 design, but unlike Volvo, they were using a carburetor,??? says Banks. ???It was down on power and running so hot you could drive at night without headlights. We helped them figure it out, and they had an Indy pace car.??? Buick returned, working with Banks to build what would become --- The father of the Buick Grand National --- a Banks twin-turbo 437 bhp Regal. This is your chance to own the ORIGINAL one of a kind Buick experimential super engine that looks & sounds like the grocery getter but can run in the high 11_s. This heads up high power street sleeper is a unique expierence for any speed enthusiast. This engine was seen in the Nov. 1981(page 31) & Aug, 1982(pages 74,75,&76) issues of HOT ROD magazines. It is the one & only ORIGINAL engine of this class EVER to find it_s way to the street. This engine block was taken off the assembly line at the Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan even before any serial numbers were stamped on the block. (the block has no serial numbers on it)If you can not find copies of the 1981 & 1982 HOT ROD magazines, some of the engine details are as follows, Completely Blueprinted, Buick Heavy Duty Block, Ported Heavy Duty Cylinder Heads, Carrillo Rods, Specially ballanced Turbo Crank, Gail Banks Engineering(GBE)(843 Commercial Ave. San Gabrial, Ca 91776) 7.25:1 Forged Pistons, Speed Pro rings. Initally preped by Kenne-Bell Performance Products (1527k W. 13th, Upland,Ca. 91786) using their own Block Girdle, Aluminum rocker covers, Oil Pump modification kit, Moroso Oil Pan. Doug Roe Engineering (4025 E. Winslow, Phoenix, AZ 85040) Helped with the durability & cooling systems. Gail Banks Engineering installed a Water(or Alcohol) cooled Dual Wastegate, Blown-Through Twin Turbocharger system. It has Custom Exhaust manifolds, Modified Holly Intake Manifold, and a specially prepaired Holly 4BBL Carburator- all of wich was done by GBE. To further refine the Prototype system They milled the Cylinder Heads .050 to increase the compression ratio to 7.75:1 and a hotter than normal cam was installed along with Prototype Variable Duration Lifters. These lifters allow low RPM LIft & Duration, improving both Torque & throttle response at low speeds while still allowing a Radical Cam Profile at the top end. Originally Dynoed at 437 BHP after the slight modifactions it is conservative to say this is now over 500 HP. It comes complete with the specially prepaired TH350 Transmission. Prepaired by Rossi Transmissions(1693 W.Arrow Hwy. Bldg. B, Upland CA 91786)It is in a Restored 1984 Buick Regal T-Type, 3:42 Posi-Traction Rear end, Custom painted, Custom Interrior, Custom Trunk, & 3500 watt Sterio system. All HOT ROD magazines & pictures are included with purchase. To see the car & get a price send me your E-mail with questions & I WILL get back to you ASAP.
